New 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee at URSE Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM of Fairmont for Fairmont, WV

As you probably already know, Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most awarded premium SUV ever, no easily won title! For 2017, Jeep only keeps the awards coming by somehow finding ways to finesse the Grand Cherokee exterior design from last year with available bi-xenon headlamps with exclusive LED daytime running lamps (DRL). The SRT models feature a new, distinctive front fascia with fog lamps, a grille and a signature leather interior package. There are four available 4x4 systems, plus Jeep's Quadra-Lift air suspension system and the popular 'Selec-Terrain' traction management system. Grand Cherokee leads the pack with best-in-class towing of 7,400 pounds and a physics-bending crawl ratio of 44.1:1. The new-for-2017 'Trailhawk' model features red rear/front tow hooks, standard rugged 18-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement, and also red accented Trailhawk/Trail-Rated badges. Much more details on that model down below! A lot of new equipment was added for 2017, including the fact that a rearview camera and rear park sensors become standard on all 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. The 2017 Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Trailhawk models all proudly display the front fascia and seven-slot Jeep grille that was on last year's 75th Anniversary edition.

Under the Grand Cherokee's Hood

First off, all Jeep Grand Cherokee engines are mated to the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6-roars within the Grand Cherokee, rated up to 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, and tows up to 6,200 pounds. This particular engine automatically features 'Engine Stop-Start' (ESS) technology to further improve fuel efficiency.  The available 5.7-liter V-8 forges ahead with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, plus has a best-in-class towing capacity of 7,400 lbs. The SRT model has a powerful 6.4-liter V-8, with Fuel Saver Technology, that manufactures 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. An unbelievable 30 miles per gallon (highway) comes from using the available 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine, plus it has an unmatched driving range of more than 730 miles! Grand Cherokee SRT features 8 drive modes that allow owners the ability to personalize their drive experience whether its on-road or on-track. Drive modes are pre-set with a 1 touch center-console button for Auto, Sport, Track, Snow and Tow settings. There is also a Custom, ECO and Valet mode as well. The new Trailhawk model has standard off-road capability features, including Jeep's Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with rear Electronic Limited-slip Differential (ELSD) for all powertrains, a Trailhawk-specific version of Grand Cherokee's Quadra-Lift air suspension that improves suspension settings, and also has the Selec-Speed Control with Hill-ascent/Descent Control. Protective skid plates and a thoughtfully anti-glare hood decal are also standard. Returning for more in 2017 is the popular Quadra-Drive II, with a rear Electronic Limited-slip Differential (ELSD), delivers industry-leading tractive capability.

Design of Jeep Grand Cherokee

For 2017, the Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup consists of six toughened models: Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and the SRT, and all have standard the 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen with updated showing wheel articulation and other 4x4 capability information, such as suspension height and Selec-Terrain modes. A large assortment of features is standard on the 2017 Summit model, including Lane Departure Warning, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, new full-wrap Signature leather interior in Indigo and Ski Gray (or 2 other previous colors) and Trailer Hitch Camera View at Speed. Approach angles on the Jeep Grand Cherokee start at 29.8 degrees but go up to 36.1 degrees for extreme off-roading (when the lower front fascia is removed). The breakover angle is 27.1 degrees and the departure angle is 22.8 degrees. I'm sure it's hard to read that and not picture exactly where you want to try it out!
