Can you believe it is time for the holidays?! This year has just flown by, and I can't believe it is almost 2015. I thought now would be a great time to help remind you about giving your vehicle a good inspection before you travel for the holidays this year. When you travel a long distance, you want to make sure your car is good for the drive. It will help avoid the inconvenience of breaking down.

Now, if you are not very good at knowing what to do, you can always stop in to your local auto repair shop, and ask them to do a full look over on your car, for a road trip. If you prefer to do this yourself, here are the simple steps to check out!

Check Tires and Tires Pressure: Make sure to check your tire tread, make sure they have a good bite on them, and they are not getting wore down. Also check your tire pressure. These two steps are important so you can try and prevent a tire blowout.

Lighting: Check your interior and exterior lights. Make sure they are all working, and make sure to check brake lights, blinkers, and headlights. You need to make sure they are all working for safety, and also you can get a ticket if you have a headlight or tail light out.

Check Oil and Washer fluid: I never knew how important this was until I my dad said if you don't keep an eye on the oil it can kill your motor. Make sure to check your oil, antifreeze/coolant, and windshield washer fluid. Having windshield washer fluid is important in case you need to clean off your windshield. When you are doing the check also run your wipers to ensure they are working as well.

These may seem like simple things to inspect, but they help save you time and money in the long run. Taking long trips can really wear on your vehicle, and making sure it is good to go, will help protect you on your drive, and the life of your vehicle. Plus it can save you hundreds of dollars. It is not fun breaking down on the side of the road miles away from your home!
